If the Cards wanted to play up their “no respect” theme again this week, they didn’t have to wait long for ammunition. ESPN’s Gene Wojciechowski penned a column entitled Let’s book Eagles for Tampa on Monday in which he gave the Cardinals little chance of beating the Eagles this weekend.
Wojciechowski surmised: “Anything is possible. You’ve got your Miracle On Ice, your Lyle Lovett marrying Julia Roberts, and your Three 6 Mafia winning an Oscar.
But the Arizona Cardinals over the Philadelphia Eagles in next Sunday’s NFC Championship Game? Put it this way: Tim Tebow and the Philippians have a better chance of strip clubbing with Pacman Jones.”
Actually, Wojciechowski goes out of his way to praise the Cardinals, but surmised the Eagles are just too good.
Personally, I agree with him. The Cardinals don’t get much respect, but they’re responsible for most of that when they lose games down the stretch like 48-20 to the Eagles, 35-14 to the Vikings and 47-7 to the Patriots.
But that doesn’t mean the Cardinals won’t milk that ill will for all it’s worth.
