As I’m writing this, it’s just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, and the Arizona Diamondbacks should feel good about their chances to win the National League West.
No one else in the division has significantly upgraded in the offseason: The Padres stink, the Rockies lost Matt Holliday and Brian Fuentes, and while the Giants signed Randy Johnson and shortstop Edgar Renteria, they still don’t have enough hitting to contend for a division title.
You might have noticed that I didn’t mention the Dodgers. That’s because Los Angeles could make a big splash in the next 72 hours.
Don’t be surprised if the Dodgers not only sign Manny Ramirez but Orlando Hudson as well.
Los Angeles needs an everyday second baseman, and Hudson is still out there, unable to land the rich multi-year deal he thought he would get when he became a free agent. The Dodgers likely could sign Hudson to a one-year deal worth between $5 million and $7 million.
If L.A. acquires Ramirez and Hudson, it immediately becomes the favorite in the NL West, even with the departure of pitcher Derek Lowe.

y0our stupid!! quit making stuff up
I highly doubt they will sign both. If they want the O-dawg then they will end up with Dunn, not Manny.
They have the money to spend, yet McCheap will always be McCheap
Just curious, is this post based on any reporting, or is it just a WAG? Cuz some people in LA are taking this to mean you have some information about potential signings of both Manny and Hudson. However I read this post more as commentary, a what-if. Can you clarify?
dodgers will win it all
if your right that is a giant splash!! i was getting sick of the scot boras game. i did not think that was going to ever end. it is great if manny plays hard. as for hudson, i did not know we was talking to him? he would make a great number 2 hitter after furcal. if they get both of them we would be a number 1 starting pitcher away from world champions. we have more then enough to get peavy. i hope frank, jamie, ned go for it all this year.
Why am I not buying this?
Why would we forfeit our number one pick for one year of O-Dawg? Because we’re dealing with Coletti. That Iidiot!
C’mon, at least do your homework if you are going to write such nonsense. Why would the Dodgers give up a first round draft pick for a one year contract, albeit with a good 2B?
Just so everyone knows: I’m not making this up. I was told by a good source that it is something the Dodgers are considering. Whether it happens, who knows. But it is being talked about.
WELL SCOTT AT FIRST I THOUGHT THIS WAS A BIG JOKE, BUT AFTER DUNN AND ABRUE ARE OF THE MARKET AND DUNN SAYING HE WANTED TO PLAY FOR THE DODGERS OVER THE NATS AND THEN SIGNING WITH THE NATS SOMEBODY KNOWS SOMETHING AND MCCHEAP ON HOT STOVE SAYING HE WANTS TO SIGN MANNY SOON AND O-DOG WOULD BE GOOD FOR A YEAR TO TEACH DEWITT ITS POSSIBLE SERIOUSLLY
can you be a little more specific? I understand you can’t give up your source but do you have anymore details? Are you going to up the story?
[...] This is on the Dodger News page, but they didn’t break the story, the East Valley Tribune did here. [...]
nothing happened scott your a loser… turn in your press pass
