D-Backs could cut ties with Eric Byrnes

Don’t be surprised if the Arizona Diamondbacks eat the final year of Eric Byrnes’ three-year, $30 million deal and release him in the offseason.
Arizona’s top four outfielders are set next year, assuming Conor Jackson has recovered from Valley Fever: Jackson will play in left, Chris Young in center and Justin Upton in right. Gerardo Parra would be the fourth outfielder.
From the standpoint of having as much versatility as possible on a 25-man roster, it makes more sense for the Diamondbacks to use, say, Ryan Roberts, as a super utility player who can play both the infield and outfield than it does to keep Byrnes.
Could the D-Backs try to trade Byrnes’ bad contract for another bad contract? Possibly. But those deals are hard to make, particularly when the contract coming back would have to be for just one year.
The Diamondbacks will take a lot of grief if they release Byrnes. But it would be the right thing to do.

IS IT MY IMAGINATION OR THE NEW 32″ HD TV SET……..
THAT MR. “LOCAL TV” BYRNES IS ABOUT 2 UNIFORM SIZES LARGER NOW THAN WHAT HE WAS WHEN HE FIRST CAME TO THE DIAMONDBACKS.

I LOVE THE WAY HE MAKES THOSE HUGE “DUST-CLOUD DIVES” TO FIRST BASE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME(IN FRONT OF THE TV CAMERAS) SO THAT HIS UNIFORM IS COVERED IN DIRT FROM THE GET-GO. THAT WAY IF HE DOESN’T SCORE A RUN FOR THE REST OF THE GAME….AT LEAST HE ….”LOOKS GOOD”.

TIME FOR THE DIAMOND BACKS TO GET SOME “KURT GIBSON” TYPE YOUNGER, HUNGRIER, MORE “TEAM” ORIENTED PLAYERS TO GIVE THE FANS SOME THRILLS AND CHILLS ….INSTEAD OF JUST “SPILLS”.

What fans would not like that move??? Tell me which ones because if there are still fans who want to see byrnes in a dbacks uniform I don’t know what they think about him, what has he done as soon as he signed his contract extension?
NOTHING!!! Just being injured, batting awfully, this team will be too overcrowded once jackson recovers completely and since they will not plan on sending down or trading young, there will not be room at all for YOUR “FAN FAVORITE” byrnes.
Unless they send down Parra which would be one of the stupidest decisions ever made. Who do you preferer a crazyy hair guy with .200 something batting average or a contender for a ROY award?
next year i would obviously put upton in right, jackson/parra in left & young/ parra in center.

Assuming Jackson will be back and that Young is going to rebound are two HUGE assumptions. Byrnes still has the speed to play center and R. Roberts should be given the chance to play 2nd. Tracy and Ojeda should be released and middle relief, free agent pitchers signed, along with D. Davis.
